The Committee is the Board of Directors of the Joint Colleges Nursery.
What is the Management Committee?
The members of the Management Committee form the Board of Directors of Joint Colleges Nursery. They are parents of children enrolled at JCN and their role is to work closely with the Head to make key decisions vital to the successful running of the Nursery. They play an important role in improving standards throughout the nursery and agree the Nursery’s annual budget.
How can you contribute as a member of the Management Committee?
As a Management Committee member, you can make a valuable contribution to the running of the nursery. All that is needed is your enthusiasm, time commitment and expertise. Being part of a committee is both enjoyable and rewarding. Members can bring their skills, talents, expertise and ideas that can be extremely profitable to the whole group. In return, they can develop new skills in areas such as management, marketing and recruitment.
What are the responsibilities of the Management Committee members?
The committee’s remit is the overall management and organisation of the nursery. Some of their main responsibilities include:

And if you would like to get involved without joining the Committee, please do get in touch. We are always looking for parents who could help us with for example the content and design of our website, lead on some fundraising activities or review our contracts and policies.

- Creating and adapting the Nursery’s business aims and objectives, and designing policies aiming at achieving these.
- Ensuring robust and safe business and employment practices are in place and followed, and that legal business and employment obligations are met.
- Ensuring the financial stability of the nursery by monitoring income and expenditure, keeping accurate financial records, budgeting and forecasting
- Holding monthly committee meetings with the Head to discuss various committee business topics ranging from finances to facilities or the Nursery’s planning ahead of an upcoming OFSTED inspection
- Organising the Annual General Meeting in conjunction with the Head
- And last but not least, recruiting future members of the committee!
