A big thank you…..

…to all parents who came to the BBQ and for all the donations for the raffle and book stall. Despite the weather we all had a good time. The stalls on the day and the book sale that went on for the following week made an overall profit of £250.

…to Mary (Autumn and Art’s mum) for organizing the ‘Book Sale’ and donating books for the stalls.

…to Miguel (Ronnie’s partner) who manned the BBQ with me, flipping burgers and sausages.

… to Tina’s partner and a delivery company who each donated a fruit hamper, ‘The Robin Hood’ who donated the restaurant voucher, balloons and helium, and Brent who donated the digital camera.

…to Babita (Mya’s mum) who donated all the decoration for the ‘Pre-school Pirate party’. The children loved being dressed up and enjoyed the party games and having a disco.

…to all parent helpers on Pre-school’s day out to the park. Again, the weather left a lot to be desired but the rain kept off for that afternoon and due to the unstable weather we had nearly all the park to ourselves.

…to all the donations from children and parents who are leaving us this summer; it is much appreciated.

What is happening in August?

Our Babyroom has their ‘Parent Play Day’ on August the 19th at 2.30-4.00pm.

The Parent Play Day has been very successful over the past year and parents got to meet other parents and enjoyed the activities that their children engage in on a day to day basis. It also gives you as parents activity ideas for home and an insight what activities your child enjoys the most, here at nursery.

Weather permitting the activities may be in the Baby garden. Firstly it provides more space and secondly if messy activities are provided it protects the new carpets from being spoilt.

Babies, Toddlers and Pre-school had new carpets laid and they look fabulous.

August is predominantly the time of movement and rooms are focusing on transitions of children into the next group. Toddler Room children spend a lot of time with the older children and staff takes the opportunity of lower numbers to take children out for walks to the park and playground.

Happy Birthday for August to…..

Tomas    who will be 4 on August the 4th.

Little Comments

When Kerry’s Explorers went out for a walk to the park feeding the ducks the children were mesmerized with the cows in the field. On their way back to the nursery Josh was very interested in the large deposits left by the cows and started to ask questions about the cow pats. The most tickling question from Josh was: “Why am I not allowed to walk through the cow pat?” Sophie explained to him what the cow pats are, and that he would smell rather bad and nobody would be impressed to clean his shoes.

As some of you may already be aware, Lee is leaving us at the end of this month commencing a post at a Nursery School. Lee has been working at JCN for five years and worked with several age groups at JCN. For the past two years she has been part of the Pre-school team and enjoyed working with this age group. She will be greatly missed by all of us, children, parents and staff alike and I am sure you will all join us in wishing her a good start in her new position.

Starters and Leavers

Not only Lee is leaving us but also the Pre-school children. Mark will leave us on the 12th of August and shortly after that Simon will say good bye on the 31st of August. They are both looking forward to starting school and I am sure they will enjoy it and make lots of new friends.

Just as some children leave others are joining us. This year we have several siblings that are joining the Babyroom. First two babies settling into nursery life will be Oliver (James’ brother) and Olivia (Laura’s sister/Laura left Pre-school last year) during August/ September. We wish them both a good start and lots of fun at JCN.
